“Long live Saddam!”

You begin on the beach in front of some wooden walkways. Head on across the walkways and as you begin to go up the steep hill you will hear voices which of course means your about to get into something. At the top of the hill you enter the camp and its full of Iraqis along with a turret sitting up high looking right at you. Leave your partner here in an aggressive hold. Go around behind the tents on your right so you can get to the side of the turret and get him out of your way. From where you shoot the turret gunner, your path goes straight ahead from there so call your partner up to join you (he should be coming up from your left). I put my parter in another aggressive hold on this corner and just joined him until we got all the Iraqis out of the way and the bell signaling that we had everything cleared rang.

Make more money, buy cooler stuff.

Use your GPS to follow the path around to find the stairs in the building that you need to go up. At the top of the stairs turn around and go across the roof to the turret and on your right will be the missing Lt. Col. Eisenhower that you’ve been looking for, waiting patiently in his little cage. You’ve completed and objective in finding him, but standby because you’re getting a new one.

You’re going to have to stay on this room and defend him. It gets real ugly real fast up here but the only thing you can do is keep yourself in the corner by the turret and get them as they come up for you. There are two ladders that lead up here and the set of stairs that you came up. Just position yourself in the corner with the turret (where you can see them all) and mow them down as they reach the roof. The battle doesn’t last very long but it is indeed intense.

This place is about to be a mad house.

After finding you just did all that for nothing, you’ll start again inside an entrance to an underground bunker. As you exit the bunker go through the opening ahead and slighty to your right. The next area is crawling with Iraqis so be cautious. Keep yourself behind cover and leap frog your self and your partner forward to work your way through as you kill the Iraqis. Listen for the sound of a proximity mine as you near the other end of the area. Use your GPS to find it. It will be on the left on the front of a booth. As you get the area cleared and come to the next area, be cautious of the turret gunner that is right there on your left as you come through.

There is going to be a lot of this throughout this mission.

Park your partner in an aggressive hold in that entranceway and fight your way out to the broken buildings to the side of the gunner to get him out of the way. With the turret out of the way, you can call your partner forward to help you clear out this area of broken buildings. At the back side of this area is a building that is still standing that the Iraqis like to shoot at you from. Some of them will be at the end of the building nearest you and you’ll have to pick them off through the window; the ones at the back you can eliminate by shooting the large gas tank.

Why do these guys try to protect broken cities? Why do we attack broken cities?

When the area is all clear, use your GPS to find the spot where you need to step jump into the next area. Don’t panic when you hear the gunfire as they can’t hit you yet, they’re just ready for you when you come over the wall, so before you even climb all the way over, take out the two guys shooting at you on the other side. Your first order of business when you get there is to take cover. Work out the details once your there.

You have another turret gunner and 2 more Iraqis to deal with (on a subsequent playthrough we found considerably more than 2 Iraqis on the same difficulty setting, so this may be entirely random). Take care of the other 2 Iraqis from the top of the wall so all you are left with is the turret gunner. When he is all that is left, jump down and put your partner in aggressive hold while you go around and eliminate the turret. You can use the door of the truck as a shield but we found it entirely unnecessary at this point.

You don’t need the shield, but it is cool to rip doors off of vehicles.

When that area is clear we choose to pick up the shield to move to the next area. Grab it and walk straight toward the turret and take a left just before you get to it. Follow this little path and you’ll run across 5 or 6 more Iraqis in front of a small building. As you are taking out these guys, the building behind them will blow up.  That’s supposed to happen and wont make this area any worse for you. Just wipe out these guys and you’ll still have plenty of shield health left when you drop it and the bell sound.

If your partner leaves you while you have the shield, back off. He usually comes back.

Continue to follow the prescribed course around the building and climb the ladder at the back. You have a brief break here, so reload, do some air guitar with your partner, take a breather. Walk around the structure at the top of the building and enter the room with the big hole in the floor but don’t drop through it. If you drop through it straight in you’ll take the bullets of three Iraqis standing right behind you.

Walk around to the other side of the hole and shoot what you can before you drop in. When there is a pause, then drop in the hole, take cover and eliminate the backup Iraqis that come in after. Be patient as sometimes there is a long pause between enemies. When all seems clear, continue forward and out the other side of the building. Head over to the large bunker door and push the button to the right of it to open it.

We’ve been impressed with our partner AI thus far, until we saw him throw a grenade. Not good.

When the door opens you’ll find yourself at the top of a stairwell. There is a single guy in the hallway at the bottom and he has a shotgun. Take him out from the top if you can and then run down and grab the riot shield at the bottom of the stairs. Proceed through the little maze of hallways and stairs in shield mode (it’s not far), eliminating the Iraqis blocking your path. When you reach a platform at the end you’ll be as far as you can go with the shield so you can drop it when everything unnecessary is dead. You’ll be looking at a ladder you need to climb, but before you go up grab the first Information Case for this mission. See the note below on its location.

It would be nice if the AI would grab the shield and let us do some shooting. Many thanks for online co-op!

Information Case #1 – As you stand looking at the ladder you need to climb turn around and look right behind you. You can’t miss it sitting there on the floor.

You’ll need to work quickly for this next part as you don’t have much time to take down the helicopter. Go ahead and climb this first ladder and get up into the next room. Go to the spot under the broken stairs and step jump up to the next level. Now quickly climb this ladder and get to the roof. You’ll see a brief cut scene showing you the helo as well as the fuel tank right next to it. As soon as you get on the roof go into co-op snipe mode and shoot the fuel tank in front of the helo. The helo will go up in a ball of fire and you will need to take cover as quick as you can.

If you don’t do this fast enough you’re either going to get taken down or the helo will leave.

As soon as the helo is out of the way, focus on the Iraqis shooting at you from down below. There is one on a roof to the left of where the helo was and some to the right directly below where the helo was. Take out what you can see and then you’ll have to move to get some more. Follow along the little wooden walkway that leads off of this roof and onto the next one. A couple of the Iraqis will come up this way to attempt to flank you but we have yet to see one try to come across to us. Get rid of whoever is down there and when all falls silent you can head across and down the set of stairs off of the building. At the bottom of the stairs head forward and to the right down the incline into the next large bunker.

Those guys might be far away, but they can put a serious hurtin’ on you!

Open the door down in the bunker and proceed through. You’ll get a chance to go shopping here so do it if you need to and the proceed out the other side. You can safely cross the bridge in front of you, but when you get to the other side, slow down and look cautiously to your left. There will be two guards up ahead that are currently clueless as to your presence. Do what you want with these guys but I’d take the in-game suggestion of taking them out with co-op snipe.

We tried this 3 times and never once did our partner even bother to fire his weapon, but at least we got one of the guards down. The other one made a break for the gatehouse and we nailed him going in the door. All the racket will of course alert most of Iraq, so you’ve got some attention coming.Get up by the guard house and get whoever peeks around at you. You’ll notice that there is a turret there but nobody is in it.  Must be for you. If you have your partner in regroup mode, walk up to the red, white and black barrier and he’ll go up and get in the turret. Just what you need to take care of the sub objective.

So much for co-op snipe. Our partner never even fired his rifle.

You’ll want to head to the left around the crates and the truck. If you try to go past your partner he’ll climb out of the turret and leave you hanging. If you go to the left and head up toward the left side of the bunker on the hill, he will stay in place and provide you with some pretty decent cover fire. You’ll still have to fight your way up to the bunker but it won’t be too bad since your partner and his turret seems to have everyones attention.

As you approach the bunker you will want to get up to its left side where you will get the prompt to push the A button when you get to the wall. If you aren’t sure, peek at your GPS and it will show you exactly where to go. Do as you are prompted and you’ll be treated to a cut scene of an attack jet letting a missle fly to destroy the bunker. You need to head back down now because with the bunker destroyed your buddy feels it is no longer necessary to provide cover fire and he’ll come to join you.

We wondered when we were going to get a turret to play on our side.

There is still a considerable amount of fighting to be done here. You need to continue to advance forward through the lower area to the right. There are several Iraqis hiding behind sandbags and barriers down that way as well as a turret gunner all the way up at what appears to be the end of the area. We would recommend saving the turret gunner for last because killing him gives you a bell indicating a cleared area, but all it really seems to do is bring on another wave from the other side of the wall and put a guy up in one of the towers.

Good teamwork here will easily make this a winning battle.

There is plenty of cover around here to avoid the turret gunner so this shouldn’t be too big of a problem. Once everything is clear, put your partner in aggressive hold somewhere so you can get around and take out the turret gunner, then wait for the next wave to come around the wall.  You’ll want to position yourselves on the side nearest the bunker that you blew up.  This will give you a clear shot to take out the guy up in the tower with your sniper since he can be a real hassle. Once it finally falls silent around here, you can go grab the Information Case lying nearby if you didn’t run across it accidentally during the fighting. See the note below for its location.

Sniper ammo is so hard to find, but so fun to use!

Information Case #2 – This case is located next to the tent that is closest to the turret gunner up against the wall under the sniper towers. Just walk in to the sandbags on the sniper tower side of the tent and it will be sitting right there.

Ok, let’s get on with things as it just gets worse from here. Head down to where the turret is and go to the right around the wall. If things worked out as planned, then most of the guys on the other side of the wall came around to get you earlier, so you hopefully don’t have more than a couple Iraqis over here to deal with. When the bell sounds indicating all is clear, use your GPS to find where to go. You want to look for a small brick building. When you find it, you and your partner will rip the door off of it by pressing A.

It will get suspiciously quiet over here for a minute.

As soon as you rip the door off you will get a short cut scene indicating that removing that door probably wasn’t a good idea. You will immediately go into back to back mode. Take down as many as you can before the back to back sequence ends and hopefully you won’t have too many left over to kill when you come out. There shouldn’t be more than a couple left if you fired effectively. Once all has fallen quiet again you’ll want to look for the entrance to the nearby bunker. Use your GPS or the picture below to find it if you don’t know what we’re talking about. Enter the bunker and open the doors. Something funny happens in the little cut scene here to enjoy that. You’re getting close to the end of the mission, so it’s going to get hairy here pretty quick.

Have a nice trip!

There is going to be trouble standing right in front of you as soon as you step into the doorway of the bunker in the form of two guards right in front of you. Take them out as quickly as possible and move up to their position at the end of the bridge. Look ahead at what you have to make it through. You have to go all the way up this street and its going to be a fight all the way to the end. Cross the bridge to the other side and begin your fight. Iraqis will come out from behind the sandbags and from the side on your left. Watch for guys to hide in the guard house on your left as you get to the other side of the bridge. Clear everyone out of this area, then continue to move forward along the road. You’ll want to watch up near the corner ahead for more enemies.

This must be one important street!

When you get up near the next corner, you’ll need to watch for Iraqis coming down from your left by the fence. They can sneak up and put a hurt on you from above pretty quick, so make good use of your teamwork and clear them out. As you round the corner you’ll quickly discover there is a turret gunner up ahead on the right side of the road. He is near the end of this street battle. Use the cover provided and eliminate any Iraqis in your way as you make your way up the street. When you get close enough to him, set your partner in an aggressive hold and get to the left side of the turret gunner so you can take him out. Before continuing any further, be sure to clear anyone that may still be hiding up in the guardhouse on the left side of the road. Once everyone has been cleared, the street battle is over.

You’re almost out of here.

Step on up to the center of the gate and press A to open it. You will find yourself standing right in the middle a minor nightmare, so immediately take cover. At first glance it just looks like a lot of crazy metal structures and angry Iraqis but you can be sure there is a Heavy walking right up the middle at you. Get as many of the nuisances around you out of the way as you can so you and your partner can work on the Heavy. Watch for enemies coming from the left from behind the hanger as they can sneak up on you pretty quick. Set your partner in an aggressive hold on either side of this area to keep the attention of the Heavy, then you go to the other side of him so you can catch him in the back while he’s busy.

The bigger they are, the bigger the pain in the ass they are to take down.

Once the Heavy is out of the way, keep your partner here keeping this area clear while you go around behind the rounded buildings to the left. You’ll have several Iraqis back here to deal with, including some high up on a metal platform. Make a mental note of that platform as Information Case #3 is up there and you’ll want to get that. See the note below for its exact location. Clear everyone out on this path. Watch for them to go into the buildings and sometimes more will appear from the platform. As you get closer to the platform keep your ears open for the sound of a proximity mine. It is attached to the sandbags next to the last rounded building. Use your GPS to find it and get rid of it before it causes you any trauma. Cautiously walk around to the stairs of the platform and make sure there is nobody left hiding on the other side. You can call your partner over to you from this point to give you some backup. Place him in an aggressive hold position right here just to be on the safe side while you go up and get the Information Case.

This whole area is confusing, so keep your eyes open.

Information Case #3 – You’ll recognize the platform when you see it because behind it there are two giant, white oil tanks with red signs on them that say “White Tanker Co.”. Climb the stairs up onto the platform then walk around to the ladder on the other side. Climb the ladder to the very top of the platform and turn immediately right when you get to the top. The Information Case is sitting there in the corner.

From the top of the platform you can look out and see where you are headed. If you don’t know which direction that is, look for the incoming weapons fire. That is always a good clue. You can now pretty much stay on flat ground so work your way toward the incoming fire. You are working your way up to the small hanger with the yellow doors. The target you seek is inside, and you’re going to have to chase him a little bit before he’ll let you have him.

Clear your way to the hanger and when you are able to see inside of it you’ll get a cut scene letting you know that Youssef is in the house! Of course, he won’t be there long because that cut scene will also show that he now runs away. In his wake he leaves a Heavy and a couple of Iraqis for you. Position your partner at the end of the hanger so he can see through it to the Heavy that is on the other side and put him in and aggressive hold.

You only want to kill one guy, how hard can this be?

You know what your job is now. You need to go up the side of the hanger so you can hit the Heavy from behind, but LISTEN! Yes, that is a proximity mine that you hear and it is right near the railing for that walkway along the side of the building that you were most likely shooting bad guys off of a minute ago. Use the GPS to locate it and get rid of it before it gets rid of you. Continue down the side of the hanger and you’ll be in good shape to take down the Heavy. Once he is out of the way, call your partner up to you and continue on the back side of the hanger. You have a couple more Iraqis shooting at you from across the way and you need to get them off your front before you can go any farther. Eliminate them and we can finish this mission.

Did we mention that Youssef is a Heavy too? We didn’t? Sorry.

This is the final stand. Youssef goes down now or . . .or . . .or you’ll hit “Restart from Checkpoint” and try again. The last two Iraqis you killed were on the other side of a ramp that goes down to the pier. Down on the pier are 2 Iraqis, a Heavy and Youssef himself. You can shoot the 2 Iraqis from above and we’d recommend doing so. The last two can be a bit tricky. The best method we found was to go down the ramp and have your partner come down with you. Put him in an aggressive hold position at the first barrier you come to and let him keep the attention of the Heavy. If you move forward you will gain the attention of the Heavy but he will also fall back a bit.

Keep forcing him back until you can run over and beside the large container on the left side of the pier, but don’t go too far to the back of it or Youssef will be able to hit you. Then just wait for the Heavy to focus on your partner and he’ll head up towards him, leaving him with his back completely towards you. You know what to do then, so lay him down for good. Finally you have just Youssef. Have your partner regroup with you and force Youssef all the way back to the end of the pier. You have a couple of options here since Youssef is a Heavy also. Position your partner on the opposite side of the pier from you in an aggressive hold and Youssef will turn so you can catch a piece of him from the side. The other option is to back him up and use the many explosive barrels that are behind him to take him out. Either way, he’ll soon go down and you will have completed the mission.

If you look close, there is a spot you can hit him right at the shoulder.

You’re off to fight this battle at sea!
