Miami Information Cases: 2 Objectives:
Sub-Objectives:
As the mission begins you’ll be given the opportunity to go shopping so stock up on what you want. You start off in a hovercraft in a badly flooded Miami airport. Just got straight forward and up the stairs to the left at the end and you’ll have already parked the hovercraft. Before getting out of the hovercraft, allow your partner to take out what he can with the mounted gun along this long hallway. He won’t get much and after a while you’ll just be watching him fire at nothing so get out and begin to take these enemies out on foot. Make your way up this long hall leap-frogging back and forth with your partner until you reach the other end with the next set of stairs. Enemies will keep coming at you from the other end of the hall until you reach the stairs, then they will retreat back up them. Before going up the stairs, look up and to the left across the airport as there will be snipers perched up above at the railing as well as enemies behind the booth at the top of the stairs. Clear out everything you can see before proceeding up. When you go up the stairs, go up together and be ready for a quick, fast, close fight when you get to the top. Immediately to the right there will be a couple of enemies hiding amongst some lockers and there will be a couple of guys crouched down in the booth. Clear this mess out quickly and put your partner in an aggressive hold in the booth. Proceed along behind the chairs to the left from the top of the stairs and get around to the other side to take care of any snipers still hiding back along the wall with all the windows. Last man down will bring the bell signaling a clear area. Return to your partner and get ready to go up to the next floor. As you look out from the booth at the top of the first set of stairs, look to the left to see the next set of stairs you need to go up. At the top of the stairs open the double doors in front of you. Enjoy the conversation about Clyde as you walk down this hallway to the next set of double doors and open those as well. At this point, get low to the floor and proceed carefully. You’ve got a good bit of fighting to take care of here and there is a Heavy involved. If there is a close second to the village firefight in the China mission, this is it. Going outside the box this time, your first order of business here is going to be the Heavy. He is more of a nuisance than anything here as there are so many guards swarming into this area, trying to avoid him the whole time is next to impossible. The technique that seems to work the best with him is to get your partner to go down the stairs and find a decent spot to hold to keep the Heavy’s attention. This is risky in that there is so much going on down there that your partner stands a good chance of either getting taken down or finding something else to distract him other than the Heavy. What did seem to consistently happen though is that our partner ended up so busy that we got Stealth Overkill, which gave us plenty of time to get down the stairs and run around behind the Heavy giving us a prime opportunity to lay him out so we could pay attention to what lie ahead. Whatever method you choose, keep to this side of the airport (away from the windows) at all costs.
With the Heavy down, you can focus on the swarms of enemies coming at you, if there is to be any focus here at all. Your best and safest bet is to keep yourself on the side of the airport you started on. Enemies will come pouring in through the windows on the other side. If you can get your partner in a good spot to stay in an aggressive hold and if you can get yourself to the other side at one corner, you stand a decent chance of taking out large numbers of enemies as they crash through the windows, otherwise be patient, be careful and pick off what you can from a distance. Grenades can be your best friend in here so use your limited supply wisely. When the final bell mercifully rings, move towards the luggage conveyors at the end of the terminal, but stay behind cover. The doors to the luggage area will open and you can be sure there are some nasty dudes in there that want to see you in pieces, so approach the openings carefully and take out what you can see from out in the terminal. When you have killed everything you can see, go in with your partner and clear out the rest of the lower area. There is a catwalk up above which is where you are going and there may be a couple of enemies up there, but the ones on the lower floor are your immediate problem. When it is safe to move up, head up the stairs in here and proceed across the walkway toward the office. There are two enemies in the office. Sometimes they wait for you to come to them, sometimes they come out after you. Either way, be ready for them and take them down. If after you take these guys down you have still not heard a bell signaling the all clear, go back down to the lower area and walk up the luggage conveyor in the middle of the room. We found a single guy hiding up there way in the back. Go back to the office on the upper level and see the note below to get the first Information Case.
Now you can exit the office on the other side and activate the switch that you find there. The conveyor will start to move and then get stuck. You have to go back down to the lower level and enter the hallway you will find under the conveyor. Just a few feet up the hallway there is a riot shield. Grab it and continue to follow the hallway around. You will encounter all of 3 enemies in this hallway. Once they are down, ditch the shield and go up the stairs you find at the end of the hall. Go across this area to where the conveyor is stuck and press A at the door blocking its path. When it has been moved you can just drop down below the conveyor and again press A at its wheels to push it the rest of the way into position. Now you can walk up the conveyor to where Murray is. Be on alert as you reach the top as there are 3 enemies up here guarding her. Get them out of your way and you can now rescue Murray by walking up to her cage and pressing A at the door to get her out. After a brief cut scene your partner will pick her up to carry her. Your partner has officially become useless to you so for now, put him in a hold right where he is. Approach the top of the conveyor carefully and look out over the room below. There are 3 to 4 enemies down there waiting for you to come down. Take out what you can see from up here and then proceed carefully down the conveyor. They know this is where you are coming so they will be using it to funnel you to them. Step down slowly and then back away as soon as you start taking fire so you can assess where they are and return fire. When the room is clear and you can safely move about proceed across the way you came in. The luggage carousels are now closed so you’ll have to go past them to get back to the terminal area through the door. Peek out into the terminal and you will see two enemies burst through the windows just as they did before. Stay in the doorway here and wait for them to come to you so you can eliminate them. When they are gone, exit the door and turn to the left toward the closed gates across from you. There are two enemies on the other side of the gates that you can snipe from where you are standing. What we did at this point was bring our partner down to us and put them in a hold position again right here. This part can get a little tricky and it helps a lot if you have a powerful weapon. You now have to proceed down the curved hallway where you sniped the two enemies. There are several enemies as you make your way down this hall, but the one you have to be most concerned with is the Heavy. This is going to be your first and last time you will have to take one down by yourself. Move slowly down the hall and get the regular enemies out of the way between you and the Heavy. The Heavy may have one or two left behind him but as long as they stay back there for the time being you should be fine. Since you don’t have any backup to get his attention, you’re going to have to do this head on and by force. We favor the PKM as our primary weapon which works very well for this tactic. You want to hit the Heavy right in the face with your gunfire. When you do the Heavy will fall down. He won’t be dead, but this does give you an opportunity to do some serious damage to him as he lies on the floor. When he gets back up just hit him in the face again. Do this 2, possibly 3 times and the Heavy will be no more. Kill what remains in the hallway and proceed to the gate at the end. Have your partner regroup with you here and open the gate. You will get a cut scene, your objectives will be rearranged and you will be moving on to the second half of the mission. Climb into the hovercraft and drive straight ahead. Once again, your partner is phenomenal with the mounted gun so you just focus on driving and let him do his thing. Continue to drive straight forward up onto the covered concrete areas and keep going until you can’t go straight anymore. When you get that far, turn right. You’ll see two more enemy hovercraft ahead so you will know this is the right way. Your partner will quickly get rid of them and when you get past them turn left and then left again to go up a short ramp to a little landing where you can park the hovercraft. When you arrive you will notice that your partner will start firing into the doorway with the mounted gun. Let him for a moment so he can clear what he can. Once your partner has had his fun with the mounted gun, climb out of the hovercraft. Stay outside the doorway and clear out some enemies inside before going in and around the machinery to find the rest. Try not to go toward the caged area before killing everything in this first area. When you are ready, proceed into the caged area and be ready for about 3 more in this little room and 2 more shooting at you from across the way. Stay low and you can focus on the 3 in front of you and once they are done for you can finish off with the 2 enemies shooting from a distance. When everyone is cleared, you are done killing for a while and you can now set about the task of activating the monorail. Since this is a single player guide, your task at this point is pretty simple. There are some live wires blocking the path and in order for your partner to get across you have to activate the switch to turn off those wires. The switch is right there next to the walkway he needs to cross inside the cage. Activate the switch and he will walk over. Activate the switch again when he is on the other side and he will flip a switch over there to open another gate and proceed in to find the fuse panel for the monorail. When he is done you will have to activate the switch again so he can get back across and then finally activate it one last time when he is back with you to restore power to everything, including the monorail. With this done you can now exit back out and climb back into your hovercraft. Back off of the platform and turn to go the way you came, only this time look up at the monorail tracks and follow them. Don’t worry about enemies as your partner has a good handle on them and you will make it to your destination with no problem. Just keep following the tracks through a couple of buildings and you will soon come up on the monorail station itself. If you are having trouble finding your way around, you can safely use the GPS to guide you since your partner has you well protected. When you arrive at the monorail station you will have to go left toward an enemy hovercraft so you can get around to the stairs you have to drive up to get onto the platform. Once you are on the platform, go up the stairs and across the upper platform to enter the monorail. Inside the monorail activate the panel at the nose of the train. Your partner will activate the one at the rear and you are off for your ride to the Tower. As the monorail proceeds along you need to keep a watch out the front window. At three points during the trip a short cut scene will show an enemy loading up an RPG to fire at you. In the cut scene you can see where you are in relationship to the enemy so use this to your advantage to find him and snipe him before he has a chance to fire the rocket. Don’t worry too much if he does. You and the monorail will take some damage but it will still survive the trip. You will also pass through 3 buildings during the trip. One will be empty and the other two will have enemies waiting on the platforms. Be ready with your weapon of choice to take them out as you pass through. When you finally arrive at your destination go just to the doorway at the end of the platform and take a minute. On your way to the doorway, you’ll be given an opportunity to go shopping, so get what you need and proceed. Step into the doorway but don’t go through it yet. You’ll be alerted to the fact that you have a good opportunity for a co-op snipe here and it is a very good idea. Look across the concrete courtyard to the front doors of the SSC Tower and you’ll see two guards standing there oblivious to your presence. This is the most important co-op snipe of the game so make sure to get this one right. Pick your target and aim directly at his head. It is very important that both you and your partner get a kill on the first shot. If one or both of you misses and a guard survives, the courtyard between you and them will fill with enemies, including 1 or 2 guys with RPG’s. If both of you get a kill on the first shot, the courtyard will remain enemy free so you can cross right over. Our advice: If you miss, restart from checkpoint and do it again, since you are standing at the checkpoint. When the guards are gone head on over to the SSC Tower. Stay clear of the open doors because the goons inside know you are coming and they have no issues with firing out the doors. Go up the stairs to the front doors and stay to the sides so you can peek in and assess the situation in there. It is pretty crazy in there and its only going to get crazier, so take out what you can from outside the doors. You probably wont get much but every little bit will help here. You will need to inch your way across the lobby now. Your first and wisest step into the lobby are going to be the two signs on either side of the entrance. Put your partner in an aggressive hold at one while you take the other. Clear out as many of the enemies as you can from here and keep your eyes open for enemies to attempt to flank you from the nearby cover to either side of you. When you are feeling brave enough to venture forward, leave your partner where he is. The more attention he can keep on himself, the better things are for you. Don’t go very far forward without cover because your bold movement is going to trigger two dangerous enemies. One is going to be a Heavy along with another handful of guards. The other is a guard with an RPG standing up on the stairs above you, quite happy to shoot you in the face. Allow your partner to keep their attention as much as possible. The RPG guy tends to be on the right hand staircase and since we chose to be on the right side of the lobby we went for him first. Pop quickly from behind cover and put a sniper round in his face. When there is no longer death from above, carefully move forward and pick off any of the guards you can get to. Try to let your partner keep the aggro so that the Heavy doesn’t turn to look at you. If your partner keeps enough aggro you should be able to get Stealth Overkill. When this happens you can take an easy run to the back of the lobby and get behind everyone. You should know be in a good position to take down the Heavy. Clear what is left in the lobby area and head for the elevator up on the landing. It won’t work, but after all that it was worth the try. You’re going to have to head up to the 2nd floor and get this thing moving. You can take your partner out of his hold position now and move on up the stairs past the elevator. On the first landing, you’re on the first floor. The stairs you need to go up to get to the second floor are around to your right, but we’d recommend you explore this first floor and eliminate any resistance you may find as well as get what you can that may already be shooting at you from the second floor. The second floor is going to be busy for a little while so anybody you can kill before you get there will help. What we did here was put our partner in an aggressive hold on the first floor on the opposite side from the stairs. We then proceeded up to the second floor and got in position behind the wall so we could see across to the side above our partner. Once we were locked in a good position here, we had our partner regroup up with us and we put him in a hold here in our place. Then we could work our way around to the other side, going in small steps so we could kill anyone coming our way. When you reach the other side, a Heavy will come out of the doorway that you need to go in. If our little plan has worked, your partner has his attention and you can easily shoot him in the back. Call your partner to regroup with you and you can move toward the doorway you need to enter. Keep an eye out for straggling enemies that may want to sneak up on you. (We almost stepped on ones foot hiding behind a column!) Enter the doorway and go down the hall to the double doors. Be ready to fire as soon as you open the doors because there is a single enemy in there waiting for you. If you know he is there, you have the advantage because you are the only one that knows when you’re going to open the door. Having your partner in aggressive mode when you open the door also leaves the poor guy little chance of survival. Enter this little room and activate the switch on the wall. With this little mission accomplished, you now have to work your way back down to the lobby. You should know better than to think you are just going to stroll on down there and enter the code to activate the elevator, so head back down the hall out of this office and when you get to the main area exit the doorway with your head down and go straight for cover behind the wall in front of you. You’ll know why as soon as the RPG whistles past your head from the other side near the stairs where you want to be. The entire 1st and 2nd floor will have filled back up with enemies as well as the lobby. No more Heavies, but that guy with the RPG can give you a headache in a hurry. Take turns making gradual progress back down to the lobby. You have an advantage this time since clearing the lobby is much easier when you are doing it from above. Keep killing and working your way down and you will eventually hear the glorious bell letting you know that all is clear. When it is you are free to go to the main desk in the lobby to enter the code which activates the elevator. Now that the elevator is functional, it takes off and leaves you behind. The way this trip to SSC Tower has gone, you probably should have expected that, but after all you’ve been through to get here this is going to be a minor inconvenience. Head back up the stairs and this time go all the way to the 3rd floor. You will encounter some resistance on the way up but it will be meager compared to what you’ve been through thus far. Just use good cover and good teamwork and you’ll make it to the top with no problems. Once you get there, you’ve reached your ultimate goal in this section. Before you climb on to the roof of the elevator to move to the next area, see the note below to get the final Information Case of the game.
With the last Information Case in hand (and a new Achievement if you’re playing on the Xbox 360) you can now climb on to the roof of the elevator and take a ride up to the roof of the SSC Tower. At the top of this ride you’ll find yourself in a small room with a doorway high up on the wall. Your partner will allow you to step jump up and onto the roof. Pull him up behind you and you’ll be immediately tossed into a back to back sequence. All the enemies in this sequence tend to be standing real close, so pay attention to the gauge on the screen that shows you from which direction you are being hit and be quick to go that way to eliminate your foes. Most all of the enemies can be killed during the sequence, but when it’s over look quickly around to find anyone else that may have been left over. When the bell tolls you can move on. Follow your GPS to find the path you need to take as it’s not very clear which way you should go. Follow your GPS and enter the doorway. You’ll go down several flights of stairs and finally come to the Executive Level of SSC Tower. You come out on a landing with a short set of stairs down. For the time being we recommend you stay on the landing as the lower area is very busy and very dangerous at the moment. The lower area holds the servers you need to upload the data to clear your name, so the first task at hand is to get everyone out of there. You can do a considerable amount of killing from up here on the landing so get your partner in aggressive mode and have at it. Stay clear of the stairs if you can. The big point of interest down there at the moment is the heavy standing on the stairs at the opposite end of that room with an RPG. It is unlikely you will get all of the enemies down there before you can go down the stairs, so when you feel you can safely move forward, run your partner down there and put him in an aggressive hold somewhere just below your current position. With the movement of your partner, things will kind of get shaken up down there and will open up more chances for you to bring death to more enemies below. When even more have been cleared you can head down there yourself and pick off whoever else is left while your partner draws the attention of the heavy. When the room seems clear you should easily be able to get to the side of the Heavy and take him down. When this room is finally silent you have to find the 4 servers and upload the info to clear your name before you will be able to proceed. As you look down into the room from the stairs you came in on, 3 of the servers are on the wall to your right and the 4th server is on the back wall behind the other set of stairs straight in front of you (behind where the Heavy was standing). Look at your GPS and you will clearly be able to see where all of them are. Walk up to each of the servers and press A to upload the info they hold. When you are done, you’ll be able to move on. Instead of running up the stairs, stay down below and you’ll see some activity up on the floor above you. Stay on the side with the 3 servers for now and eliminate what you can see from down here. There won’t be nearly as many enemies this time but there is a turret and another Heavy up there that have to be handled. When you have as much of the foot traffic handled as you can, send your partner up the stairs and put him on an aggressive hold just inside the door. When he is in place go back up onto the landing you were on when you first came in here. Look up and to the left and you will see another Heavy and he should be focused on your partner. He is another easy target for you. He moves around a lot trying to get a shot at your partner, but he stays in basically the same spot. Just pick your moment and snipe him down. Now make your way around to the opposite side of the room from the servers carefully as the turret is up there above the servers. If you can catch him before he sees you, you can take him out. In our case, he saw us and our partner was able to take him out from the side. With the turret gunner and the Heavy out of the way proceed up to the second level and join your partner. You can only go one way around this level, so follow it all the way around and keep your eyes open for any leftover enemies hiding up here. When you get around to the other side and pass the turret, you’ll be at the bottom of a set of stairs that lead up to the third level and the last fight of the game. As soon as you reach the top of the stairs take cover behind the railing. Clyde is across from you with a sniper rifle and he is a darn good shot, so keep your head down. In the opposite corner from you is one more Heavy but you can’t see him yet. That guy will NOT move no matter what you do so you are going to have to go to him to get him out of your way. In addition, there will also be enemies coming from behind Clyde making their way around to you. There will be 4 or 5 waves of about 3 enemies before they stop coming, so we’ll outline the plan to complete this fight for you. Put your partner in an aggressive hold about halfway down this hall. Once he is in place, make your way all the way to the other end and quickly get behind the cover of the railing. From this vantage point you are looking right at the Heavy and the bridge that the waves of enemies will try to cross. You can sit right here and completely destroy each wave of enemies as they cross the bridge and as long as you are behind the rail the Heavy can’t touch you and he won’t move from his place to come get you either. The safe bet here is to just stay in this spot until the waves of enemies stop coming. When the waves of enemies cease you can now focus on the Heavy. Even though your partner may be in aggressive mode, you are too close to the Heavy to make him take his focus off of you, so just let your partner stay over there and entertain Clyde for a while. Believe it or not he’s actually picking away at Clyde’s health so he isn’t exactly wasting his time. It is nearly impossible to get the Heavy to turn far enough to get a shot at his back, so taking a lesson from the airport we’ll take him down head on. Using the amazing power of our PKM, we just shot the Heavy in the face to knock him to the ground. Once he is down, chip away at his health as he gets back up. You should only have to do this about three times before he goes down and stays down. When he lies lifeless, there remains only Clyde. Your partner should still have Clyde’s full attention and with the path ahead of you clear you can now run around to the side that Clyde is on. Quickly go over there and get behind the first set of file cabinets you can get to. This can now end in a couple of ways. Clyde will either be far enough down the area that you can pop him in the head with a sniper round, or he’ll be close and you can fill him full of lead from your PKM. Either way, down is down and done is done. (Another possibility is that you get too close to Clyde and you get his attention. When that happens your partner does have the good sense to shoot him in the back and take him down for you.) Congratulations! You have completed the single player campaign for Army of Two! Your final objective will be completed in the final cut scene.
