Introduction/Story

God of War was released to rave reviews in March of 2005. Its combination of exploration, combat, and puzzle solving likened it to games such as Onimusha and Devil May Cry, but its story (steeped in classic Greek mythology) put God of War into a class of its own. Play the game, delve into an ancient world, and discover the fate of the Ghost of Sparta.

A sequel was released in March of 2007, with a PSP version, God of War: Chains of Olympus, scheduled for a November 2007 release. An official second sequel for the Playstaton 3 is expected, but has not yet been officially announced.

Story:

You play as Kratos, master of the Spartan army. After pledging your life to Ares, the god of war, in a desperate battle, you become his violent servant and slave. After a horrific incident in which you commit an unspeakable evil due to Ares’ orders, Kratos renounces his allegiance and pledges revenge. Aiding him on his quest for vengeance is a legion of gods and goddesses. Kratos must travel to the ends of the earth to capture Pandora’s box, and exact his retribution on Ares.
